The year 1973 saw the end of direct American combat involvement in the Southeast Asia conflict-a conflict sometimes referred to as the Indochina War, the Vietnam War, and by other assorted sobriquets. This is an illustrated account of United States Air Force activities in that war from 1961 to 1973. It makes no pretence of being a comprehensive history of the war, or even of Air Force participation therein-not because it lacks historical authenticity (it contains only verifiable material), but simply because it is, by design, limited in scope and depth. Official, definitive histories are in progress but will not be widely available for several years. In the interim, this book can help fill a void in public knowledge of the Air Force's experience in Southeast Asia.
